Frequently Asked Questions
◇ Where are you located?
▪︎We are 2 miles from Madison, Kansas in Greenwood County. Unit 14 for deer and Unit 6 for turkey. 1.5 hours East of Wichita and 2 hours Southwest of Kansas City.
** Is lodging included?
-Yes, we have a very nice 2 story farmhouse, centrally located between the majority of our farms. It is a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bath house that can sleep up to 10 and is equipped with washer/dryer, wifi, all linens and toiletries. It also includes a skinning barn that is outfitted with electric winch cleaning stations, lighting, water and a deep freezer for care of your trophy.
** How many members do you have?
-For 2024 we will look to have 4-5 muzzleloader members, 8-9 archery members, and 5-6 rifle members depending on the draw results. Since Kansas is a weapon specific state, each group of members gets exclusive access to the farm during their respective season. Early muzzleloader members are allowed to hunt from 9/15-9/28, archery hunters can hunt from 9/29-12/2 and 12/15-12/31. Rifle members are allowed to hunt the entire 12 day season from 12/3-12/14.
◇ How do you determine who sits on what farm?
▪︎Everyone is equal at Green River. Members will draw for stand selection each night if multiple members are in camp at the same time. This ensures everyone in camp gets the same opportunity.
◇ Do you have a minimum score on bucks taken?
▪︎We do. We have a 140" inch gross B&C minimum on main frame 8/9 points and a 150" minimum on main frame 10 points. We are targeting 4.5+ y/o bucks. There is a $1500 fine for harvesting a buck that scores under the minimum. That fine will be owed immediately.
◇ Do you allow minors?
▪︎We do allow minors as guests with member supervision. All members must be 21+ years old. All guests during any hunting season must be accompanied by the member at all times.
** Can members bring guests?
-Yes, members are allowed guests privileges for any hunting EXCEPT deer hunting. Deer hunting is reserved for members only. Members are allowed up to 2 guests at a time. Each member is allowed 3 total turkeys each year (1 bird per hunter limit)
** Is waterfowl hunting included?
-Yes, waterfowl and wingshooting is included in the membership. Limit of 2 guests at a time. There are 9 large lakes with blinds in place. There are over 25 ponds and multiple ag fields to hunt as well. Waterfowl hunting is not allowed during deer rifle season (Approx 12 days). There is also a healthy quail population on the farms.
** Is turkey hunting included?
- Yes, however KS has gone to a nonresident draw for turkey permits. Assuming members draw a permit, members may harvest the state limit of 1 bird for themselves and are allowed 2 additional guest turkeys. Members must be with the hunting guest at all times.
◇ Do you bait?
▪︎We do. Intensively. Every farm we have has constant corn from August until January. This keeps doe groups close and big bucks on our properties. We use gravity style 600# feeders and construct bait pens on farms with cows to ensure constant feed for the deer during season. We also supplemental feed protein and mineral on our larger farms throughout the summer.
◇ What about food while in camp?
▪︎We have a local lady that can cater dinner and breakfast at an additional cost. You are welcome to line up your meals with her or bring your own food with you to camp. Our kitchen is fully equipped and we also have a Weber gas grill.
◇ Do you run cameras?
-Yes, over 40 Tactacam camera and another 10-12 static cameras. Tactacam account info is shared with members so they can view the pictures from all cameras in the app on their phone in real time. We also provide members with our login to the shared OnX account, showing all the farm's borders, stands, feeders, cameras and gates.
◇ Is Kansas a draw state?
▪︎Yes. It is for non residents. Draw odds are around 50% success for those applying without a preference point and 100% for those applying with a preference point. We walk you step by step through the application process which opens April 1st and ends April 28th.
◇ Im a Non-resident, What happens if I don't draw a deer tag?
▪︎Starting in 2023, members will be required to pay an upfront membership fee in January. This is nonrefundable and allows members access to the farms for all non draw related hunting. IF they successfully draw a KS deer tag the deer hunting portion of the membership would be owed. IF they do not draw, the fee is not owed and they will earn a preference point and be guaranteed a deer tag the following year. Members that do not draw a deer tag will still have access to the farms for all other hunting/fishing privileges. Kansas residents would owe the membership balance upfront each year as they do not have to draw deer tags. Since turkey permits for NR has gone to a draw, members may choose to add turkey hunting for themselves and their 2 guests for an extra fee. This fee is only owed if you are successful in drawing your tag.
◇ What do we hunt out of?
▪︎16ft Summit/Millennium ladder stands with life lines and bow holders.
-Millennium Lock-Ons
▪︎Ground blinds
▪︎Banks Tower Blinds
All stands and blinds are pre-set and ready to hunt in known deer travel areas.
◇ Is this a high fence operation?
▪︎ IT IS NOT. We are 100% fair chase in the heart of big buck country. Kansas is arguably the best state in the country. Greenwood County ranks 6th all time for Boone and Crockett entries in Kansas. The average score of our bucks taken the last 2 seasons is 153"
◇ How much land do you hunt?
▪︎We have EXCLUSIVE rights to +/- 10,500 acres with 90 % of the farms only being 10 minutes or less from the lodge. We have over 30 farms. This helps in rotating pressure.
◇ Do you have a list of references?
▪︎Of course. Email us for an extensive list of references.
